“Akanksha and I are delighted to join LivingMyPromise, and commit at least half—I expect that we will commit substantially more than half—of what we have to charity. It is much easier to be generous if you have more than you need, so this is not a difficult thing for us to do. That said, I don’t think being charitable is innate. In my experience, it is learned from the examples of others.
I feel a kinship towards John Rawls in his methodology for organising the world centred around justice as fairness—a world where the country/family/circumstance you’re born into, does not limit your human experience. Efforts like Living My Promise strive to build that world.
My promise is to the process; as long as I have the resources at my disposal, I will seek to raise the bar for social justice and self-determination. I’m doubly fortunate—one, to have embarked upon this journey relatively early in my life (compounding works wonders!), and also to have a wonderful network of peers around me (ripe for enlistment!).
May our tribe grow.”
