Throughout my life, I have felt three profound divides that trouble me deeply, the ego divide, the social divide, and the spiritual divide. My work with tribal communities and youth has shown me that beneath all of these lies a fourth, hidden silent and yet powerful, financial divide, which quietly fuels and sustains the other three.
This work has made one truth undeniable, the earth belongs to no one. We are each temporary stewards, playing a role in its preservation and in the lives of those who will inherit it from us. Signing #LivingMyPromise is my way of playing my part with intention and accountability.
I think often of my great-grandchildren. If they were to look me in the eye one day and ask, “What did you do when you knew?” . I want to be able to meet their gaze without looking away. I want my answer to be written not in words, but in choices I made while I still could.
This promise is also one I make to my ancestors, who built and sacrificed so that I could be here, in a position to give. The question that drives me is simple: If not now, when? If not me Who?
